Whether training for sport or conditioning for fitness, the ambient environment (i.e., air temperature and humidity) holds an important role in the health and performance outcome of athletes and fitness enthusiasts. This presentation is designed to enhance one’s understanding of the physiological mechanisms of heat transfer and create a greater awareness of the symptoms of heat stress while training and conditioning in heat challenging environments. Attendees will learn the steps to acclimatization and obtain practical tools to assess hydration needs for safe and effective exercise and training in hot weather.
