Description

Shorter, intense workout formats have continued to grow in popularity. The TABATA style is the newest version HIIT. While effective in robust producing changes in both aerobic and anaerobic fitness, the effect TABATA exercise has on caloric expenditure and the post-exerise metabolism is the newest science available on TABATA. This session will show how TABATA affects cardio-metabolism and compares to other forms of exercise.

Learning Objectives

  1. By the end of the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to compare high intensity interval training to moderate intensity steady-state training.
  1. After the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to differentiate between a Tabata exercise protocol versus other styles of high intensity interval training.
  1. By the conclusion of the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to explain the different between supra-maximal (authentic) Tabata exercise and Tabata-style exercise.
  1. After the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to design an authentic Tabata protocol and a Tabata-style workout protocol/workout.
  1. At the conclusion of the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to explain how Tabata utilizes increased levels of fat for fuel during and after exercise.
  1. By the end of the Physiology of Tabata session, the participant will be able to name the program components of Tabata and high intensity interval training.
