All diets work, at least in the short-term. This talk will help you understand the positive aspects of popular diets including gluten-free, paleo or “cave man,”, raw foods, low-carb high protein, meal replacements and Mediterranean. It will also include how the diets might, not might not, meet the needs of very active people. The talk will conclude with a review of the latest evaluation from U.S. News & World Report on the “best” diets.

  1. Compare and contrast popular diets including the Paleo Diet, Gluten-Free Diet, Raw Foods Diets, Mediterranean Diet, and the Fast Diet.
  2. Describe the pros and cons of popular diets for active clients.
  3. Develop a “bottom-line” for active clients based on the diet reviews.
  4. Identify the challenges of getting needed energy, macronutrients and micronutrients for active people who follow popular diets.
  5. List the nutrients of concerns for the popular diets.
  6. Evaluate the “diet mentality” that dominates the lives of many active Americans.
